Electrified cars: which models received duty-free quotas

The electrified cars will have 865 new units that can enter the country without paying the extra-zone import tariff. The Government reassigned the quotas corresponding to the leftovers from 2025 and 2026.

The measure was published in the Official Bulletin and affected three companies in the automotive sector. Ford, Eximar, and Antelo received the quotas for different models.

Which companies received the new quotas for electrified cars

The distribution of the 865 quotas was concentrated among three companies. According to information published by AutoWeb, the allocation was established as follows:

• Ford: 432 units of the SUV Territory.

• Eximar: 257 units of the MG HS.

• Antelo: 176 units of the Haval Jolion.

In total, the three companies concentrate the 865 available units in this reassignment.

The benefit allows the import of certain units without paying the extra-zone tariff. This advantage is particularly relevant for electrified models manufactured outside Mercosur.

Which models were excluded from the reassignment

The number of requests that were not approved far exceeded the available supply. Among the rejected applications are models from various brands present in the Argentine market.

• BYD Dolphin Mini: 2,444 units.

• BYD Atto 2: 1,301 units.

• Chevrolet Captiva: 865 units.

• Chery Tiggo 4: 800 units.

• Leapmotor B10: 530 units.

• Renault Arkana: 500 units.

• Changan CS55: 450 units.

• Soueast S06: 327 units.

• Omoda O5: 300 units.

• Haval H6: 269 units.

Which models are expected to arrive in Argentina

Several of the vehicles that were excluded from this reassignment are also expected to arrive in the Argentine market.

The next quota for electrified cars will be 50,000 units

The reassignment of 865 units serves as a preliminary move before a new distribution on a larger scale.

It is expected that in the coming weeks the Government will define the quota corresponding to 2027. The allocation will reach 50,000 units.

• 25,000 vehicles for the terminals grouped in ADEFA.

• 25,000 vehicles for the importers grouped in CIDOA.
