The coach of the Argentine National Team published a lengthy letter on his social media in which he thanked the fans for their support, highlighted the commitment of the squad, and left a message for those who questioned the team during the World Cup
The post came after several days of reflection and hours after leaving Pujato, where he stayed with his family and received the affection of hundreds of fans who came to his home to thank him for his time leading the Albiceleste.
"I'm sorry for not being able to bring you another cup", wrote the coach at the beginning of an extensive text that quickly went viral and received thousands of supportive messages.
Scaloni explained that he experienced a week in which "sadness intertwined with joy, tears with a smile, anguish with tranquility, nerves with calm" and assured that, regardless of the outcome, he hopes fans appreciate the spirit the team showed throughout the World Cup.

In that sense, he defined the squad as "my warriors", a nickname he said he uses when talking about them with his wife, and listed the values he believes represent this group. "The effort, the desire, the wanting, the I can, the not giving up (even when everything gets tough), giving it your all (even when you have nothing left), enduring cold water splashes (FROM PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW US), knowing how to be, wanting to stay standing when your legs no longer obey your brain. That is the true trophy".
It is worth noting that the uppercase reference was interpreted as a response to the criticisms the National Team received during the tournament, especially from abroad, although the coach avoided making specific allusions.
In the final part of the message, Scaloni thanked those who were part of the World Cup journey. "Eternally grateful to my coaching staff, players, AFA personnel, those who silently work to keep us comfortable, and each of you for the affection received".
The coach closed the post with a postscript that quickly began to circulate among fans: "Whoever has an Argentine friend has a treasure".
Unlike his recent public statements, in which he acknowledged he would analyze his continuity after December, this time Scaloni made no reference to his future in charge of the National Team.
