Insecurity is back in the news in the province of Axel Kicillof, where a federal police officer returning home was surrounded by four criminals, two of whom were armed, who attempted to rob him in Moreno. The officer defended himself with his service weapon and shot one of the attackers, while the other three escaped without being able to steal anything from him.
The incident occurred this Friday, just minutes after 7, at the intersection of Ituzaingó and Alem streets. The victim was identified as William Alejandro Zurita, a corporal of the Argentine Federal Police, who was off duty and walking in civilian clothes towards his home.
According to police information, the four criminals were on foot and surprised the officer in the middle of the street. Two of them were armed and threatened him shouting, “You are being robbed”.
In response, Zurita drew his 9mm Bersa service pistol and fired a shot that hit one of the assailants. The criminal fell onto the roadway, while his three accomplices ran away without firing any shots and without managing to steal any belongings.
The officer was unharmed. Part of the sequence was recorded by a security camera in the area, which captured the movements leading up to the attack and the subsequent escape of the criminals. Personnel from the Moreno Patrol Command and the 1st Police Station arrived at the scene along with an ambulance from SAME, whose doctors confirmed the attacker’s death.

The officer provided a testimonial statement before the Unit of Instruction N°4 of Moreno. His weapon was seized preventively for forensic examinations, although no legal measures were taken against him. Prosecutors Martín Borgnia and Rebeca Patiño ordered the preservation of the scene, taking testimonies, and conducting the autopsy. The case was classified as “investigation of a crime and attempted robbery.”
This incident adds to a series of attacks against police officers recorded in recent days in the province of Buenos Aires. In La Reja, another corporal from the Federal Police shot two criminals when he came to the defense of a family and was hit by three shots, one of them in the face. Similar confrontations also occurred in City Bell and Gerli.
