The future of Mauro Icardi has once again taken center stage in the Italian market. The Argentine forward was linked with Lazio, but ultimately the possibility of him joining the Roman club was ruled out, according to information published by Corriere dello Sport.
According to the Italian outlet, Lazio's management held a meeting with Genaro Gattuso, who recently took charge of the team, to define the available options to strengthen the attack. In that meeting, the coach reportedly expressed his preference for another forward: Andrea Pinamonti.
Gattuso chose Pinamonti over Icardi
The coach's stance proved decisive in Lazio's planning. Gattuso reportedly ruled out the possibility of bringing in Icardi and identified Pinamonti as his main option for the forward position.
