Nature has struck with relentless fury at Venezuela, exposing the "enormous institutional and economic fragility" of a country that has no margin for response in the face of adversity. Last Wednesday, Venezuelan territory was the victim of a "double seismic event", a rare phenomenon where two large-magnitude earthquakes occur in the same area with just a 39-second difference. The first impact registered a magnitude of 7.2, immediately followed by a second quake of 7.5. This deadly sequence, according to geologist Andrés Folguera, left "no margin to evacuate between one shake and the next", impacting already weakened structures and multiplying the disaster in Caracas and La Guaira.
In this chaotic scenario, President Javier Milei has taken the initiative, confirming this Thursday that the Argentine Republic will send humanitarian aid immediately. The coordination of this rescue mission is in charge of the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, along with the Ministry of Security, demonstrating the executive efficiency of the current administration.
Through a statement from the Office of the President, the moral superiority of Argentine assistance was emphasized: "Beyond the differences that may exist between our governments, the Argentine Republic expresses its willingness to collaborate with the humanitarian assistance that may be required, in coordination with the relevant international organizations".
The deployment of Argentine resources to assist the victims —which already total 188 dead, 1,520 injured, and 157 missing— is total and decisive:
Armed Forces: The Argentine Foreign Ministry is preparing to send military aircraft for the transport of supplies and personnel in the coming hours.
