An Argentine stallion of the Criollo breed reached a historic price during an auction held at the Palermo venue. The Santa Elena ranch paid $150 million for 90% of Tañido Tronador, one of the most outstanding breeders of the exhibition.
The operation, equivalent to approximately USD 100,000, became the most important sale of the night and the highest price recorded among all species sold in Palermo.

The auction was organized by the Association of Criollo Horse Breeders, along with the firms El Rincón and Saenz Valiente Bullrich. In total, the operations exceeded $350 million and included breeders, mares, embryos, and stallion services.
The bidding for Tañido Tronador captured the attention of a room filled with breeders, entrepreneurs, and buyers from different provinces. Interested parties from Brazil and Uruguay also participated, some of them by phone.
Finally, the winning bid was made by the Santa Elena ranch, owned by Agostino Bonatti Rocca, located in Sauce, Corrientes province, and with fields in the Buenos Aires party of Luján.
The stallion belonged to the La Serena ranch, owned by Felipe Juan Ballester and his family. The sellers retained 10% of the specimen to maintain access to its genetics and use it in future breeding programs.
Tañido Tronador is the son of Del Oeste Zorrino, a recognized breeder who was the Grand Champion of Palermo and also received the highest award from the International Federation of Criollo Horse Breeders.
In addition to its pedigree, the specimen stands out for its morphology, docility, typicity, and functional aptitudes. It also participated in the Freno de Oro, one of the most important tests for the breed, held in the Brazilian city of Esteio.
Thunderous Tuning
From the Association of Criollo Horse Breeders, it was highlighted that this year's edition was the most successful since the implementation of special auctions. The entity aims to turn Palermo into an international showcase for Argentine equine genetics.
During the day, five males, three mares, one colt, one filly, two embryos, and eleven stallion services were sold. The exhibition also featured buyers from Mendoza, Entre Ríos, Córdoba, Brazil, and Uruguay.
