The conclusion of the 2026 World Cup not only left Spain as the new monarch of global football, but also the awarding of the renewed FIFA individual awards. In this edition, the trophies, as expected, were mostly awarded to players from La Roja.

The Spanish national team solidified its dominance in the tournament by taking home three of the most important individual distinctions. Rodri was awarded the Golden Ball for Best Player of the World Cup, recognizing his ability to control the pace and sustain the midfield of the champion team.

Meanwhile, Unai Simón claimed the Golden Glove after delivering decisive performances between the posts, becoming a true defensive wall. The generational renewal of Spanish football was also sealed with the award for Best Young Player, given to defender Pau Cubarsí, who displayed an unusual maturity for his age throughout the competition.

Implacable Mbappé and Dutch fair play

Despite their crowning, the Iberians could not obtain all the accolades. First, Kylian Mbappé made history again by winning the Golden Boot. The forward of the French national team reached the impressive figure of 10 goals, a mark that positions him not only at the top of the scoring table of this particular tournament but also, combined with his goals in 2018 and 2022, at the top of the historical scoring ranking of the tournament with 22 goals.

Finally, FIFA awarded the Fair Play Award to the Netherlands national team. The Dutch team stood out not only for its footballing proposal but also for maintaining the most correct and respectful behavior on the field, accumulating the fewest disciplinary sanctions.
