San Lorenzo now has a new president. After an extensive day of voting at the Ciclón, Marcelo Culotta ultimately won the extraordinary elections held this Saturday at the Nuevo Gasómetro and will be in charge of leading the institution until December 2027, completing the term that originally began with the management of Marcelo Moretti.

The electoral day took place normally at the Pedro Bidegain stadium, where more than 13,000 members participated in one of the most important elections in recent years for the club. From the early hours of the morning, voters approached the 61 polling stations set up under the North Stand to choose among five slates seeking to lead the institutional reconstruction of the Ciclón.

The election was held in a context marked by the political crisis that San Lorenzo has faced in recent months. The early departure of Moretti and the subsequent interim leadership of Sergio Costantino led to these extraordinary elections, called to resolve the situation of vacancy affecting the institution.

With 4,110 votes (29.82%), the provisional results declared Culotta, representative of the list "Order and Progress San Lorencista", along with his vice Juan Manuel Campos, as the winner. The leader will assume this Monday, June 1, for a term of 18 months, until December 23, 2027, the date set for the end of the period that began after the 2023 elections.

As for the rest of the lists, the votes were distributed as follows:

  1. Sergio Constantino and Cipriano Pommies | San Lorenzo in Motion | 3,284 votes (23.83%)

  2. César Francis and Daniel De Florian | Return to San Lorenzo | 3,289 votes (23.57%)

  3. Manuel Agote and Leonardo Della Bitta | Move Boedo Move | 2,511 votes (18.22%)

  4. Nicolás Papasso and Lito Grass | New Generation | 595 votes (4.32%)

With an extensive career in the blue-and-red political life, Culotta was one of the protagonists of the fight for the return to Boedo and had an active participation in the Fans Subcommittee between 2006 and 2017. Additionally, he was part of various opposition lists and served on the Board of Directors as a member for Cruzada por San Lorenzo between 2012 and 2019.

In 2021, he founded the group "Order and Progress", a space through which he managed to establish himself as one of the main figures of the opposition. In the 2023 elections, he achieved second place with 28.59% of the votes and subsequently returned to the Board of Directors, collaborating in various sports areas of the club before submitting his resignation.

The list of interim president Sergio Constantino finished second.

The new president will assume office at a complex time for the institution. In addition to the economic and political challenges, there are recent sporting frustrations, including the elimination from the Copa Sudamericana, which increased the discontent among members and the need to embark on a reconstruction phase.

With the support obtained at the polls, Culotta will now have the responsibility to restore institutional stability to San Lorenzo and lead a project that allows the club to regain prominence both on and off the field.
