Marcelo Gallardo has resolved his contract and is close to becoming the new coach of Ecuador

The negotiation between Marcelo Gallardo and the Ecuadorian National Team has reportedly advanced decisively in recent hours. According to the information released, the coach has given the green light to the economic conditions offered by the FEF and is getting closer to taking the position.

The Ecuadorian organization would pay the Argentine 3.5 million dollars per year, an amount that would make him the highest-paid coach in the history of the national team.

The proposal represents a considerable increase compared to the salary that his predecessor received. Sebastián Beccacece earned 2.5 million dollars, so Gallardo would receive one million more.

If the agreement is finalized, the former River coach will rank at the top of the salary ranking of coaches who have led Ecuador.

The Ecuadorian national team has been making a significant investment to hire its coaches. Before Gallardo, Beccacece had established the highest salary in recent history, while other coaches had also surpassed a significant barrier.

Gallardo turned down other proposals

The possibility of coaching Ecuador comes after the Argentine coach received various alternatives during the period he was without a team.

Gallardo reportedly had proposals from MLS clubs and from Europe, in addition to a rumor that linked him again with River Plate.

According to the figures that emerged, the Millonario was willing to offer him a salary close to 7 million dollars annually to finalize his return to the Núñez club.
