President Javier Milei received the Ohev Yisrael "lover of Israel" Award this Tuesday during a ceremony held at the educational institution Yeshiva Darchei Torah in New York, in recognition of his support for the State of Israel and the Jewish people.
The event was part of the official agenda of the Argentine president in the United States, where he is participating in the 81st General Assembly of the United Nations and holding various meetings and institutional encounters. The award ceremony had been previously included in the presidential schedule for this Tuesday.

During his visit to the institution, Milei received the distinction and delivered a speech to those present, in a new activity related to the Jewish community during his international travels.
The recognition comes amid the close relationship that the Argentine Government has maintained with Israel since the beginning of the current administration. Milei has made the bilateral relationship and the fight against antisemitism two of the recurring themes of his foreign policy.
In August, during an event with students from the ORT School, the President stated that the values of Judaism influence the construction of public policies of his Government, and asserted that there are ethical and moral principles he considers non-negotiable.
Additionally, in June, while participating in a conference organized by the Allies of Israel Foundation, Milei emphasized the need to strengthen regional cooperation against antisemitism and terrorism, and publicly defended the strategic relationship between Argentina and Israel once again.

The Executive's position was also reflected in August when the president met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar. According to an official report from the Presidency, both parties highlighted the strategic nature of the bilateral partnership and reviewed the situation in the Middle East.
The ceremony at Yeshiva Darchei Torah took place during the first day of Milei's activities in New York. This Tuesday, the President also participated in the international event “Shield of the Americas”, organized by the United States as part of the United Nations General Assembly.
