In the context of the traditional vigil for Independence Day in Tucumán, President Javier Milei provided an overview of his administration and highlighted the Pact of May, signed on the same date two years ago.
Before a large group of governors, the head of state urged to renew that political agreement and reaffirm its guidelines.
“The goal was to take the boot off the provinces,” the President stated, referring to the spirit of the pact, while calling on the governors to “renew their vows” and “ratify the commitment to the Pact of May.”
During his speech, Milei defended the economic decisions made since the beginning of his administration and emphasized the massive electoral support received.

“The Argentines chose the path of putting the State in its rightful place. They did it in 2023 and reaffirmed it in 2025,” he asserted.
In this vein, he listed a series of measures promoted by his administration: “We made the largest adjustment in history, approved the RIGI, carried out more than 16,000 reforms in the vast legal framework that burdened Argentines, and we have had more than 2 years of fiscal surplus.”
The president also reviewed recent legislative advances and highlighted the impact of those policies on economic indicators.
“Since December 2025, we have approved laws such as: the first Budget, with fiscal balance in a century, the Fiscal Innocence Law, a Labor Modernization Law, the amendment of the Glacier Law, the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union,” he detailed.
In this context, he added: "As a result, the country risk is falling to levels not seen in over 8 years. We went from levels of 3,000 to around 400.”

Looking to the future, the president anticipated the agenda of reforms he will promote in Congress, which includes the modification of the Cold Zone Regime, the reform of the Fiscal Innocence Law, the Political Reform, and the amendment of the Central Bank's Organic Charter, along with projects aimed at strengthening the protection of private property, promoting new investments, and consolidating fiscal balance.
The event was attended by more than ten governors from different political spaces, including Osvaldo Jaldo, Alfredo Cornejo, Juan Pablo Valdés, Marcelo Orrego, Gustavo Sáenz, Raúl Jalil, Carlos Sadir, Rogelio Frigerio, Rolando Figueroa, Ignacio Torres, Leandro Zdero, and Elías Suárez.
The vice governor of Córdoba, Myrian Prunotto, also participated. In front of them, the President reiterated his call to consolidate the political and economic direction, with the aim of “laying the foundations for a new pact.”
The official activity began around 11 PM, when Milei arrived in the Tucumán capital to lead the central event. In parallel, the province organized a vigil with a live musical show for the present audience, in the lead-up to the commemoration of July 9.
The President was accompanied by part of his cabinet and authorities from Congress. Among them were the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei; the Chief of Staff, Diego Santilli; the Foreign Minister, Pablo Quirno; the Minister of Justice, Juan Bautista Mahiques; the head of Economy, Luis "Toto" Caputo; and the Minister of Security, Alejandra Monteoliva.
With this political scenario, Milei emphasized the need to sustain and deepen the course initiated at the end of 2023, supported by the Pact of May as a framework for collaboration with the provinces and as a basis for the projects he will seek to promote in Congress.
