Lionel Scaloni's statements after the 2026 World Cup final, in which he left open the possibility of evaluating his continuity, generated multiple speculations about the future of the Argentine national team.

In light of this scenario, Sebastián Beccacece considered that if the coach decided to end his cycle, the best alternative would be to maintain the working line of the current coaching staff with Pablo Aimar at the helm of the team.

The Argentine coach emphasized that Scaloni will take the necessary time to evaluate his future and pointed out that any decision must be made after analyzing the positive and negative aspects of the process. “I believe that, as Scaloni stated, it seems to me that he will take this time and think about the pros and cons,” he suggested.

For Beccacece, Aimar has the necessary qualifications to take over the leadership of the Argentine National Team in the event of a coaching change. “If he decides to step back, it would be good to see continuity with Aimar, right? I would like to see Pablo there. I think he is a very important piece in Scaloni's coaching staff structure,” he noted.

The former player has been part of Scaloni's coaching staff since the beginning of the successful cycle that led the Albiceleste to establish itself among the main powers of world football, so he knows in depth the working methodology and the internal functioning of the group.

His experience within the national team is considered a key factor in maintaining the football identity developed over the past few years.

Despite the speculations, the Argentine Football Association maintains the expectation that Lionel Scaloni will continue to lead the national team. However, the coach's statements after the defeat against Spain created a scenario that until recently seemed unlikely.
