After a frustrating first semester, River continues to move strongly in the transfer market and is one step away from finalizing a signing that was among Eduardo Coudet's priorities. After several days of negotiations, the Núñez club reached an agreement to sign Mauro Arambarri, a 30-year-old Uruguayan midfielder currently playing for Getafe in Spain.

The operation was set in motion after intense discussions between the institutions and only administrative matters remain for the signing to be official. The midfielder will sign a contract for three and a half years, with a link until December 2029, and, unlike their first signing, Nicolás Otamendi, who will play in the 2026 World Cup with the Argentine National Team, the coaching staff's intention is for the Uruguayan to join immediately and start preseason training with the rest of the squad from June 17.

Although it was initially reported that the Millonario would only acquire a part of the player's economic rights, the management will ultimately proceed with the total purchase of the rights (50% belonged to Getafe, 30% to Boston River, and the remaining 20% was owned by the player himself). The investment would be around 6 million dollars, a figure that reflects the importance assigned by both the coach and the club's management.

Arambarri was one of the names that Coudet had marked as a priority to strengthen the midfield. The coach knows the Uruguayan well from his time in Spanish football and believes he can bring balance, intensity, and experience to a team undergoing a renewal process.

On the other hand, the arrival of the Uruguayan will also impact the squad's composition from a regulatory perspective. Currently, the Núñez club has four players occupying foreign slots: Juan Fernando Quintero, Kevin Castaño, Kendry Páez, and Matías Viña. The addition of Arambarri will use one of the two available slots that the institution still has.

In his nearly nine years with the Spanish team, the Uruguayan midfielder played 21,909 minutes, spread over 267 matches, in which he scored 22 goals, provided 14 assists, and received 75 yellow cards and 3 red cards for second yellow.
