The socialist and LGBT Esteban Paulón once again attempted to push his delusional agenda in Congress. This time, the legislator presented a bill to declare June 2 of each year as the “National Day of Sex Workers,” an initiative that seeks to incorporate a date for prostitution into the official calendar and set a precedent for a holiday.
According to the project's rationale, Paulón seeks Argentina to recognize this date in coincidence with "International Sex Workers' Day", which commemorates a protest that took place in France in 1975. The legislator states that the goal is to raise awareness of the sector's demands and urgently adhere to the international LGBT agenda.
The project driven by the controversial Esteban Paulón
The text, presented in the Chamber of Deputies, consists of only two articles. The first establishes the creation of the commemorative date and the second provides for communication to the Executive Branch in case the proposal is approved by both chambers of Congress, without considering any measures to address the real problems faced by millions of Argentines.
The initiative also mentions the Association of Women Sex Workers of Argentina (AMMAR), an organization that advocates for the recognition of sex work as a labor activity. It cites documents from international organizations such as UNAIDS (The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS), arguing to reduce discrimination and promote sexual freedom.
Paulón had already tried the same with the "National Day of Ricotera Culture and Pogo"
The project once again exposes the disconnection of a part of the leftist leadership from the real urgencies of the country. While Argentina discusses deep reforms such as the reform of the Central Bank, reduction of public spending, tax relief, and competitiveness, the left insists on promoting initiatives with a strong ideological burden and low impact on the lives of Argentines.
Paulón had already pushed a project weeks ago to legalize euthanasia in Argentina, under the name “Voluntary Medical Assistance in Dying Law,” which contemplated access to the procedure even from the age of 16. Following the death of Indio Solari, the socialist deputy also presented a project to declare June 5 as “National Day of Ricotera Culture and Pogo”,
