Argentina has once again received favorable signals from the external perspective: the U.S. State Department has kept the country at the lowest level of its international travel alerts, recommending that its citizens take only normal precautions when visiting the national territory.
The update was published on July 10 and reaffirmed Argentina at level 1, the safest category within a scale composed of four levels. Additionally, the U.S. agency removed risk indicators related to disturbances, health, and crime, along with the alert for the city of Rosario, which was previously considered a higher caution area.
The law and order policy established by Milei's Government is reaping its rewards
This classification places the country in a more favorable position than destinations typically presented as models of safety and stability, including Spain and France. Both European countries remain at level 2, which advises American travelers to “exercise increased caution” due to the impact of Islam on local crime.
In the case of Spain, Washington warns of possible episodes related to terrorism and civil disturbances. The report mentions potential targets such as transportation hubs, tourist sites, dining establishments, shopping centers, and sporting or cultural events. It also notes that demonstrations are frequent and may occur due to political or economic issues.
European countries drop in the ranking due to crime imported by Islam
France received the same classification due to risks related to terrorism and protests. The U.S. warning also mentions the frequency of phone thefts and pickpocketing at airports, stations, transportation means, and tourist attractions.
The difference also extends to Brazil, which remains at level 2 due to crime rates and kidnapping risks. The State Department directly advises against visiting certain border areas, informal neighborhoods, and some peripheral cities of Brasília at night.
Lula's Brazil has a level 2 in the classification for high levels of crime and kidnapping.
While consular alerts do not constitute a general ranking of the safety of each nation, they do determine how much caution Washington recommends to its citizens. Under this criterion, it is currently considered that traveling to Argentina requires less caution than traveling to Spain, France, the United Kingdom, or Brazil, among others.
The result represents positive news for the government of Javier Milei, which since December 2023 has placed the restoration of order and the fight against crime among its main priorities. The rating granted constitutes a favorable international signal for the country's image and its positioning as a tourist destination.
