The Government of Benjamin Netanyahu approved a security plan that incorporates the Intelligence service in tasks alongside the Police, with the aim of combating crime in the Arab society of Israel.
The measure, announced by the prime minister, also includes an investment of approximately 500 million shekels (about 145 million euros) and the creation of new operational units.
As detailed by the prime minister himself, the decision involves the participation of Shin Bet in coordinated actions with traditional security forces.

“We have approved an unprecedented national initiative in the Government to eradicate crime in Arab society: Shin Bet will join the fight alongside the Israel Police, with an investment of approximately 500 million shekels,” he stated.
The plan includes the establishment of specific structures in both the intelligence and police fields. On one hand, progress will be made in creating a “specialized unit to combat smuggling and arms trafficking,” while within the Police, a national unit will be established that “will act against criminal organizations using advanced technologies and means.”
The announcement is part of a broader strategy by the Israeli Executive to strengthen internal security against various types of crimes.

In this regard, the prime minister emphasized that his Government will not tolerate the current situation regarding crime within the Arab sector. “We will not accept a reality of murders, violence, extortion, and criminal terrorism on the streets of Israel,” he asserted.
Furthermore, he stressed that the State will use all available resources to confront criminal organizations. “We will mobilize the best capabilities of the State to reach the leaders of criminal organizations, dry up their sources of power and money, dismantle their infrastructures, and restore personal security to the citizens of Israel,” he indicated.
The prime minister also highlighted the role of other officials in developing the initiative and reaffirmed the Government's determination to move forward with the plan. “I congratulate Minister Maya Golan and Minister Itamar Ben Gvir for leading this very important initiative. We will act with determination, strength, and without concessions, until we restore security to all citizens of Israel, without exception.”
