A new episode of violence shook Rosario's soccer. During a match between Defensores de Funes and September 7 for the First B of the Rosarina Association, the referee of the match, Jesús Campreher, was brutally

assaulted by a player.

The incident originated amid complaints and a riot inside the camp over a protest. In this context, a soccer player from the visiting team attacked the judge with fist blows to the face, causing him to collapse.

"The game was inconsequential, nothing was happening to make something like that happen,” Campreher said. According to his testimony, the aggressor had already shown a hostile attitude from the start: "He complained about everything from the first few minutes. I even spoke to the captain to calm him down. I admonished him, he insults me and when I go to take out the red one is when he hits me. I don't see it coming because I was on my back.”

The referee detailed the violence of the attack: “I was about to pull out the red one because he insulted me out loud and here came the first pineapple. I felt the blows, I was left on the floor and I bled.” In addition, he revealed the seriousness of the consequences: "In the second stroke I lost consciousness for about ten seconds.”

After the attack, the player tried to leave the scene, but was arrested by police officers who quickly intervened and transferred him to the 23rd Section of Funes. In parallel, the meeting was immediately suspended

For his part, Campreher received medical attention on the spot and it was later confirmed that he suffered a fractured nasal septum, in addition to facial swelling.

In that regard, the referee announced that he will proceed with a criminal complaint for injuries against the aggressor, who was charged on a preliminary basis while the

investigation continues.

The Rosarina Football League is analyzing possible disciplinary sanctions that could be severe, both for the soccer player and for his club, in a case that rekindles the alarm due to violence in Argentine football.
