The new Volkswagen Amarok was presented for the first time in Brazil, still with a camouflaged body. The pickup that will arrive in 2027 will have Argentinian production, be larger, and add a hybrid powertrain.

Volkswagen chose the Barretos Peon Festival to showcase the future Amarok, which will leave behind the testing phase. The project for South America also includes greater involvement of regional teams and a platform developed alongside SAIC.

What the new Volkswagen Amarok to be manufactured in Argentina will be like

The future Volkswagen Amarok will have a strong South American component in its development. Local teams participated in defining the design, engineering, testing, and validation of the project.

Argentina will play a central role because production will continue in General Pacheco. The plant, where the first-generation Amarok is currently manufactured, will receive technological upgrades to adapt its processes.

Volkswagen also worked alongside SAIC to develop this new phase. The starting architecture corresponds to a platform used by Maxus, a brand of the Chinese company.

The unit presented in Brazil still retains its camouflage, although it allows for some features of the new pickup to be known. The covering was designed with references to different landscapes, cultures, and territories of South America.

At the front, the presence of daytime LED lighting stands out. The body profile, window shape, and rear pillar design can also be observed.

Volkswagen still keeps much of the final design under wraps. The new Amarok will also be larger than the current model.

The new Amarok will be the most powerful in the model's history

Volkswagen confirmed that the future Amarok will have a significant evolution in its mechanics. The company stated that it will be the most powerful version since the pickup's launch.

Currently, the mid-size Amarok offers a 3.0 V6 turbo diesel engine with 258 hp, which can reach 272 hp with the overboost function, and 580 Nm of torque.
