The National Meteorological Service issued a yellow alert for extreme cold covering Buenos Aires, including the Autonomous City, and 17 other provinces for this Thursday, July 2. The phenomenon affects a vast area of the country and highlights the need to take precautions, especially for the most vulnerable sectors.
The provinces affected by the warning are Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Catamarca, La Rioja, San Juan, Córdoba, San Luis, Mendoza, Entre Ríos, Corrientes, Misiones, Santa Fe, La Pampa, Neuquén, Río Negro, and Chubut, in addition to Buenos Aires. This is an event of much lower temperatures than usual for this time of year.
In the particular case of CABA and the Buenos Aires metropolitan area, a minimum of 1 degree and a maximum of only 9 degrees are expected. The cold will be felt consistently throughout the day, with even lower thermal sensations in the early hours of the morning and as night falls.
At-risk groups and necessary precautions
Yellow alerts for extreme cold can be dangerous for children, seniors over 65, and people with chronic illnesses. These groups require special attention to avoid health complications associated with the marked drop in temperatures.
