Experts remind that conditions may vary from neighborhood to neighborhood and that it is advisable to check the updated forecast throughout the day. Yellow alerts indicate a moderate level of risk and do not imply certainty of extreme phenomena in all points of the indicated area.
The National Meteorological Service issued a yellow alert on Friday, November 6, for storms that will affect areas of La Pampa, San Luis, and the province of Buenos Aires during the afternoon. At the same time, eight provinces remain under a yellow alert for strong winds throughout the day. In total, nine provinces are affected by one of these warnings.
The expected storms will be isolated and of variable intensity. Some may be locally strong and accompanied by heavy rainfall in a short time, hail, intense gusts, and frequent electrical activity. Accumulated rainfall values are expected to range between 15 and 40 millimeters, although in some cases these amounts may be exceeded.
The warning aims to encourage the population to take precautions against possible temporary flooding, falling branches, or interruptions in the electricity supply. Authorities recommend following official updates as the afternoon progresses.
Meanwhile, the wind alert system covers a wide area of the territory. In the mountainous region, westerly winds are expected with speeds between 45 and 70 kilometers per hour, with gusts that may exceed 110 km/h. In the rest of the area covered by the warning, winds will blow from the south at speeds between 40 and 60 kilometers per hour, with gusts that can reach 80 kilometers per hour and even exceed that value in isolated cases.
