More than 8,000 incarcerated individuals are voting in the process led by Daniel Noboa

The National Electoral Council (CNE) began early voting for the 2025 referendum and popular consultation on November 13, with the participation of more than 8,000 people deprived of liberty without a final sentence, in 41 penitentiary centers across 20 provinces of the country.

The process is being carried out under a strict security operation coordinated by the National Police, the Armed Forces, and SNAI, ensuring order and transparency in the voting process.

The electoral day was officially inaugurated by the CNE vice president, Enrique Pita, who highlighted the institutional commitment to democracy.

In the Machala prison, where a massacre was recorded on November 10, voting was suspended as a precaution. However, in the rest of the penitentiary centers, the process is proceeding normally, under the direct supervision of security authorities.

President Daniel Noboa's government has promoted the modernization of the electoral system and penitentiary security, ensuring the right to vote even for groups in situations of deprivation of liberty.

This operation is part of the national planning to ensure peaceful and transparent elections.
