During the hearing of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs held this Wednesday, former Biden administration health official, Anthony Fauci, refused to answer questions invoking the Fifth Amendment 111 times, and the committee chairman, Rand Paul, is considering holding him in contempt and arresting him.
"That is the vote that will take place in the committee next week. It will be for contempt of Congress. We believe that, due to his immunity from criminal liability, he did not need to shield himself with the Fifth Amendment, and perhaps the Fifth Amendment does not apply when there is a valid pardon, which will be a legal issue. But the issue of contempt will be put to a vote", Paul stated.
"And then there is the question of whether the Department of Justice will take action or not. You know, I have previously recommended his criminal prosecution, and neither the Biden nor the Trump Department of Justice has taken it up. All I can do is recommend prosecution. I cannot initiate a criminal process," added the Kentucky senator.
