American drivers will not have to suffer the impact of the war between Russia and Ukraine, confirmed today President Donald Trump, announcing a pact between Kyiv and Moscow to halt attacks on energy infrastructure, news that will bring relief to global prices and protect the wallets of American citizens.
"Ukraine has agreed not to attack Russian energy targets! Russia has agreed to do the same! The rise in global diesel prices is mainly due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, not Iran", Trump wrote on his Truth Social network.
On Sunday, Trump criticized Zelensky for the tactics used by the Ukrainian army to defend itself against Russia, which include long-range drone attacks on Russian energy facilities. "Mr. Zelensky has to do one thing. He has to stop hitting diesel fuel in Russia [...] There are many other targets. Don't attack diesel fuel, because that is hurting, it is hurting the world," he indicated.
Trump pointed to the global diesel shortage as the main reason to halt the war
In a post on X, Zelensky said he had doubts about whether Russia would comply with Trump's demands. "Ukraine has proposed that its partners secure an agreement with Russia that stops the destruction of critical infrastructure. Food, energy, and other basic elements that sustain life must be protected, and Russian attacks are mainly directed against them," he wrote.
"To be reliable, in the long term, have a real impact on people's lives and not crumble after the Russians celebrate their 'elections' and achieve relief from pressure on gasoline and diesel precisely for that period. The war must come to an end. And a step towards de-escalation regarding critical infrastructure could be the first step towards peace. We await clarifications from our partners", he continued.
It is worth noting that the war broke out during the disastrous management of Democrat Joe Biden, who during his term delivered billions of dollars to Europe and Ukraine in military and financial aid. On this, Trump said it is time for European countries to take on and repay the cost of everything spent by Washington.
