President Donald Trump indicated this Sunday on his social media that he will evaluate rescuing Canadian Jews facing a growing wave of antisemitism by establishing an expedited legal pathway to facilitate their emigration to the United States.

The request comes from religious leaders alarmed by the "disproportionate" number of antisemitic incidents north of the U.S. border. In light of the insecurity experienced by the thousands of Jews residing in Canada, the founder and president of the National Association of Christian Legislators (NACL), Jason Rapert, asked Trump to challenge Prime Minister Mark Carney for answers regarding this scourge.

"We will find out" if Canada is hindering the exodus of more than 2,000 Canadian Jews who have already expressed their interest in relocating, Rapert noted. "Trump should challenge Carney right now. Canada should be ashamed of these supposed obstacles. And we are trying to mobilize leaders to take a firm stance," he stated.

Rapert and other figures, including more than 50 state legislators, religious leaders, and civic representatives, sent a letter to Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Congressional leaders to urge them to intervene by creating "legal, safe, and properly expedited pathways" for Canadian Jews and their immediate families suffering persecution under the progressive government.

Over the past year, there have been nearly 7,000 antisemitic incidents recorded in Canadian territory, in a country of approximately 41 million inhabitants. In contrast, the United States, with a population exceeding 342 million, reported fewer than 6,300 cases, Rapert emphasized.

Canadian Jews expressed their urgent need to move due to constant threats to their safety, harassment, vandalism, intimidation, and acts of violence directed against schools, synagogues, businesses, institutions, and families following the terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas against Israel on October 7, 2023. Among the incidents are bullet impacts on Jewish schools, arson attacks against temples, and all kinds of aggression against worshippers.

Prime Minister Carney acknowledged that antisemitism in the country has reached levels not seen since World War II and admitted that his government has failed to contain the issue. "Canada's civic pact is failing Canadian Jews," the leftist leader stated in June.
