Two Jewish citizens were stabbed in the London neighborhood of Golders Green, an area with a significant Jewish population in the northwest of the British capital. The incident once again set off alarm bells about the growing climate of anti-Semitism and violence against Jewish institutions
in the United Kingdom.
According to North West London Shomrim and the community security organization CST, a man ran down Golders Green Road trying to stab Jewish residents before being arrested.
Shomrim volunteers managed to reduce the suspect until the arrival of the metropolitan police, whose officers used a Taser gun to arrest him. The victims were treated by the Hatzala emergency service
. British PM Keir Starmer
Witnesses reported that the attack occurred near the Netzach Yisroel synagogue. British writer Jonathan Harounoff said that he was having breakfast in the area when he saw a large number of emergency vehicles driving
there.
“It's not a normal existence for British Jews in 2026, or in any year,” Harounoff said. “Jewish communities in England are under attack. It's devastating to see that the place where I was born and raised has become a hotbed of anti-Jewish hatred
and virulent terrorism.”
The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, described the attack as “deeply worrying” during an intervention in Parliament and stated that the United Kingdom must act “with absolute determination” in the face of this type of crime.
For his part, the president of the World Zionist Organization, Yaakov Hagoel, who was in London at the time of the attack, called on the British government and the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to take stronger measures against anti-Semitism.
“Hate and incitement against Jews can cost precious blood, and we're seeing its consequences right now on the streets of London,” Hagoel said.
The Israeli Minister of Aliyah and Integration, Ofir Sofer, argued that the deterioration of security for British Jews reflects “the increase in anti-Semitism together with the continued impotence of the British government,” and noted that Israel is promoting programs to facilitate the immigration of Jews from the United Kingdom.
