Impeachment now: Orsi violated the Public Service Ethics Code

The scandal involving the President of the Republic, Yamandú Orsi, regarding his purchase of a Hyundai Santa Fe with a $25,000 discount is far from over, and on the contrary, it worsens every day.

Orsi delivered a televised message broadcast on social media lasting 2 minutes and 45 seconds attempting to explain the privilege he received.

Instead of clarifying the matter, many more doubts have arisen. The issue becomes increasingly murky, and the explanations from Jorge Díaz, Fernando Pereira, and Orsi himself do not hold up in any way.

Violation of Public Ethics

Orsi committed an ethical-legal violation. Article 34 of Law 19.823 (and Article 9 of the Code) establishes the explicit prohibition of receiving gifts, benefits, or advantages from third parties.

There is an undue economic benefit because the $25,000 discount granted by the dealership was not a common commercial discount accessible to any citizen, but rather a corporate "kindness" motivated by his public status. Simply by being the President of the Republic.

There is a conflict of interest, as Decree 30/003 explicitly prohibits accepting advantages if they come from companies that have regulated economic interests, are monitored, or intend to be suppliers to the State.

There is a risk that the car dealership seeks future favors or government contracts.

Additionally, there is indirect advertising use, as Orsi and Cosse paraded on March 1, 2025, in a Hyundai vehicle.

The broadcast of the parade was transmitted nationwide on National Chain, which constitutes evident propaganda in favor of the aforementioned South Korean company.

The issue of the Hyundai purchase and the lack of transparency marks a turning point in the government of the Broad Front and is increasing the deterioration of the image of a government that, even before the scandal, was already experiencing very low approval ratings.
