A strong episode of tension occurred at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), where a group of left-wing students carried out an intervention inciting them to attack President Javier Milei, using his image as a target on a target. In addition, the event led to a climate of hostility towards those who thought differently, with attacks and rebukes against teachers and students
.
The action was organized by the student group La Marea, linked to the Socialist Workers' Movement (MST) and the Left Front. On the steps of the faculty, they installed a target under the title “Facho shooting”, in the center of which they placed an image of the head of
state as their main target.
Images of Jorge Rafael Videla, José Alfredo Martínez de Hoz, Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu also appeared around the figure of Milei.
The scene was recorded by a libertarian teacher who publicly denounced the incident. This is Juan Martín Agosti, a doctor at the UBA, professor of Histology and Immunology and leader of the Somos Libres space, who questioned the intervention and warned about the violent nature of the activity
.
During the filming, there was a tense verbal cross between Agosti and the members of the group, where he ended up being physically assaulted by the militants who sought to prevent him from entering. While the teacher pointed out that it was an incitement to violence, the group responded that they were defending human rights
and claiming historical memory.
The situation soon escalated to the national level after Javier Milei himself shared the video on his social networks with a brief but strong message: “Civilization or barbarism. End”.
The president expressed his opinion on social networks.
From the La Marea group, meanwhile, they tried to justify the intervention as part of an activity linked to the commemoration of March 24. In this context, they maintained that their actions are part of a demand for memory, truth and justice, and they even called for mobilization and participation in
activities in the former ESMA.
The episode generated strong repudiation and re-exposed the level of political radicalization that persists in left-wing sectors that appropriate public spaces. Far from promoting debate, these types of interventions cross a line by using institutional figures to call for violence
