The director of the IMF will tour the Loma Campana field alongside Luis Caputo and Horacio Marín to understand the energy potential that drives Argentine exports
The managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, will tour the Loma Campana site in Vaca Muerta this Tuesday, alongside the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, in a visit aimed at gaining firsthand knowledge of the development of one of the sectors considered strategic for Argentina's economic growth.
During the tour, the president of YPF, Horacio Marín, will also participate, welcoming the delegation and presenting the progress of projects that position Vaca Muerta as one of the main energy hubs in the world.
The IMF focuses on the export potential of Vaca Muerta
The visit comes after the press conference that Georgieva shared with Caputo, where she emphasized that the energy industry is currently the main driver of Argentine growth.
According to the official agenda, the head of the IMF will arrive at the Neuquén site around 10 AM for a tour lasting approximately two hours.
The IMF focuses on the export potential of Vaca Muerta
The development of Vaca Muerta is considered key to the country's economic future, as projections estimate that the energy complex could generate between USD 11 billion and USD 15 billion annually in exports, consolidating itself as one of the main sources of foreign currency income.
In addition to touring the facilities with YPF authorities, it is expected that Georgieva will hold meetings with union representatives from the sector during her stay in Neuquén.
Milei will not participate in the trip
President Javier Milei will not accompany the delegation as he will travel to Peru to attend the presidential inauguration ceremony of Keiko Fujimori.
The Government indicated that no new meetings are planned between the president and the IMF director, following their meeting on Monday in Buenos Aires.
Once her agenda in Argentina is completed, Georgieva will depart on Wednesday for Uruguay.

During her visit, Georgieva reiterated that the strong performance of energy and mining represents a historic opportunity for the Argentine economy, although she warned that the challenge will be to extend that growth to other activities.
The head of the organization stated that sectors such as construction, services, logistics, and small and medium-sized enterprises still need a more solid recovery for economic improvement to reach the entire population.

In this regard, she highlighted the importance of facilitating access to credit and developing the capital market to enhance investments and employment.
Energy as the axis of economic growth
From the IMF's perspective, the macroeconomic stability achieved by the Government has opened a new phase for strategic sectors such as oil, gas, and mining.
Georgieva also noted that the Central Bank continues to strengthen its reserves and praised the fiscal discipline achieved by Milei's administration, while emphasizing that the next step will be to convert the success of the energy sector into a sustained boost for the rest of the economy.
The tour of Vaca Muerta symbolizes that objective: to showcase one of the most important productive projects in the country and the potential that Argentina has to establish itself as a major energy exporter in the coming years.
