The Office of the President of the Nation confirmed this Tuesday a historic milestone for Argentina in aerospace: the ground stations of the National Commission for Space Activities (CONAE), located in Córdoba and Tierra del Fuego, were able to successfully receive the first signals and telemetry data from the ATENEA microsatelite

.

The official statement, issued in the early morning of April 2, highlights that this progress marks a turning point for the country's participation in global space projects, consolidating cooperation with the United States and with top-level international actors within the framework of NASA's Artemis II mission.

While decades ago Argentina was only a spectator of the arrival of man on the Moon, today the country is an active part of one of the most ambitious missions of the modern era, integrating its own technology into a

manned lunar exploration project.

The ATENEA microsatelite, developed under the CubeSat 12U format, aims to measure radiation levels in different layers of space, evaluate the behavior of electronic components under extreme conditions and analyze GNSS navigation signals, including GPS, GLONASS and Galileo, at altitudes higher than their constellations. It will also validate long-range communication systems and very low light sensors

.

The statement highlights that this operation involves testing the country's critical capabilities in monitoring, receiving and processing data in scenarios of high technical complexity. This is a qualitative leap in the national scientific infrastructure, with a direct impact on technological development

The project is the result of joint work between CONAE, the National University of La Plata, the National University of San Martín, the Faculty of Engineering of the UBA, the Argentine Institute of Radio Astronomy, the National Atomic Energy Commission and the company VENG

.

The Government linked this progress to the strategic orientation promoted by Javier Milei's management, stressing that international integration, reliability and commitment to technological excellence allowed Argentina to position itself on the global stage.
