The Argentine government will move forward with the tender for the Retiro terminal, the country's main land transport hub. It will be the first time in more than three decades that a competitive process has been opened for its concession

.

The decision marks a change of course. The work will be carried out with 100% private funding, without compromising public funds

.

End of a 33-year concession marked by deterioration The

terminal was concessioned in 1993 and since then it has been in the hands of the company TEBA S.A.

Over time, the service has deteriorated steadily. Lack of maintenance, safety issues and poor conditions affected millions of passengers.

In addition, the contract was extended for years without new tenders, limiting investments and structural improvements.

A new model at no cost to the State

The project will be developed under a comprehensive concession scheme

.

The private sector will assume all of the investment and operation for 30 years. In exchange, you will receive system revenues and pay a monthly fee to the State

.

This model seeks to modernize infrastructure without resorting to public resources.

A key project for Argentine transport The

Retiro terminal concentrates between 10 and 12 million passengers a year

.

It operates more than 300,000 services annually and connects Buenos Aires with the entire country and the region.

The renovation aims to expand its capacity, improve security and optimize the user experience.

What changes are expected

The plan includes new docks and a comprehensive reconfiguration

of the space.

An improvement in lighting, infrastructure and services is also expected.

The objective is to keep up with the growth in demand and upgrade a terminal that has become obsolete.

Caputo highlighted the measure The

Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, stressed

the importance of the project.

He stressed that for years no necessary investments were made, which affected the quality of the service.

The new tender seeks to reverse that scenario.

A paradigm shift in public works The

process will be carried out by the Treasury Palace.

The initiative is part of a broader government policy, which aims to promote works with private participation.

In this way, efficiency, investment and better results are sought without burdening the cost to the State.

An opportunity to transform Retiro

After decades of delay, the terminal is entering a new phase.

The tender opens the door to profound modernization.

And it marks a clear turn: key infrastructure, but funded without public money.
