A tribute ceremony scheduled for last Monday in Plaza Islas Malvinas, in La Plata, ended up being suspended amid incidents and acts of violence involving Kirchner demonstrators, who prevented the normal development of the activity organized by the 7th Arana Regiment.

The day, which took place during the afternoon and night as part of the traditional “March of the Torches”, was aimed at paying tribute to the veterans and those killed in the Falklands War.

The call included a military caravan that left with trucks and personnel to the place where the regiment historically operated, from where numerous soldiers left for the war.

However, when they arrived at the intersection of 19th and 51st streets, the officers encountered a group of ultra-Kirchner demonstrators and human rights organizations who began to reject their presence.

The situation escalated rapidly with chants, where soldiers were even being treated as “Nazis”, booing and a climate of hostility

that led to direct aggression.

According to the testimony of a person who witnessed the events, the violence of the demonstrators frustrated the act: “This act had to take place in Plaza Malvinas, and it could not be carried out thanks to CECIM La Plata, which seeks only to politically partisan everything.”

According to witnesses, the demonstrators surrounded military trucks to prevent the continuity of the activity, creating a scenario of tension that forced drivers to retreat and leave the place. The retreat came amid loud chants of repudiation and constant pressure from Kirchnerists.

The same witness described specific episodes of violence: “There were blows, an Army truck had a flat tire.” These events directly affected the development of the tribute, which could not take place in the originally planned site

.

At the same time, from the Falkland Islands Ex-Combatants Center (CECIM) La Plata, a Kirchnerist organization, they questioned the carrying out of the act and described the military presence as a supposed “provocation”.

Faced with this incident, the organizers decided to move the event to another location to avoid a further escalation of the conflict and to be able to carry out the commemoration in safe conditions.

In that sense, the witness highlighted the contrast between the two moments: “You know that, we came here, we are calm and happy without politics in the middle

.”

The episode revealed how the eruption of violent Kirchner demonstrators ended up frustrating a commemorative activity, causing material damage and forcing changes in its development. Despite the initial incidents, the event could later take place in another area, under conditions of tranquility
