A group of left-wing militants violently broke into an open class at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the UBA and sparked a scandal by forcibly preventing the exposure of legislators from La Libertad Avanza. The talk, focused on university funding, was interrupted by shouting political slogans, accusations and harassment against the guests.

The event, entitled “University Funding Act in Perspective”, took place within the framework of the chair of Constitutional Law (Darío Luna commission) and was attended by the national deputy for La Rioja, Gino Visconti, and the national senator for Chaco, Juan Cruz Godoy. The purpose of the activity was to analyze the current state of funding for public universities and to open a space for academic debate about their challenges and perspectives.

However, the activity was abruptly interrupted by a group of students identified with left-wing spaces, including members of the Youth of the Workers' Party, who burst into the classroom shouting “you are not welcome in this faculty, you are against the people” and slogans such as “

out, out and out”.

The situation created a climate of tension inside the classroom, where the demonstrators tried to prevent the normal development of the class. The teacher in charge, Darío Luna, tried to calm the situation and remarked that the chair already included an open space for participation so that students could express their positions, ask

questions and discuss with the guests.

In this context, Luna warned that the attitude of the demonstrators implied a “fascist” act and pointed out that such practices are incompatible with democratic debate. Despite their willingness to dialogue, the militants opted for direct confrontation, evidencing their

difficulty in discussing ideas.

Joaquín Iglesias Astorgano, a political science student at the faculty and former student of the chair, collaborated in the organization. During the attacks, he tried to convey to the militants that they could use the microphone and participate in the exchange peacefully, but he

received no response.

Later, he expressed himself on social networks and questioned the attitude of the demonstrators: “The same people who treat us as violent and anti-democratic, today interrupted an institutional activity organized by a teacher because there were two guests they didn't like.”

Strong political repudiation after the aggression in the UBA

The episode generated immediate rejection in the political sphere and quickly escalated on social networks, where national leaders harshly questioned the actions

of left-wing militants.

President Javier Milei spoke out about what happened and pointed against the double standards of certain sectors, pointing out that while they claim to be against violence, they then “fight those who fight head-on against the violent”, referring to those who try to justify this type of episode.

There was also criticism from the academic and management spheres. The Undersecretary of University Policy, Alejandro “El Profe” Álvarez, warned that this type of behavior reflects an authoritarian logic, arguing that, with greater power, these sectors would advance against

those who think differently.

Along the same lines, the national senator, Patricia Bullrich, described the demonstrators as “fascists” and “intolerant”, and stressed that they must learn to live together in democracy and respect the ideas and people elected by the majority.

Senator Patricia Bullrich also spoke out about the controversy.

For his part, national senator Joaquín Benegas Lynch expressed his repudiation of the episode and maintained that what happened once again highlights the violent and totalitarian nature of left-wing groups. “These boys, pigeons of dictators, should be expelled from the University,” he said

.

Gino Visconti himself also spoke out after what happened and pointed out against the naturalization of this type of episode. “This is not militancy. It's left-wing intolerance and violence. And we can't naturalize it. The public university must be an area of freedom,” he said.
