The terrorist group Hamas confirmed this Friday that it accepted the agreement for its total disarmament, although it clarified that it will only comply with the terms of the pact if Israel completes the withdrawal of its forces from the Gaza Strip, as outlined in the plan promoted by the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

The confirmation comes just a day after Trump announced a "historic agreement" reached by the Peace Board to end Hamas's military power and move towards a new Palestinian administration in the enclave, with the support of an international stabilization force.

Hamas conditioned disarmament on Israel's withdrawal

Hamas negotiator, Ghazi Hamad, explained that the draft agreement establishes as a condition that Israel gradually abandon the Gaza Strip, reopen border crossings, and cease military operations.

"If Israel does not comply with the agreement, we will not comply either," warned the leader of the terrorist group in statements to Arab media.

Hamad also assured that the document was discussed with other Palestinian factions and emphasized that the commitment of the so-called "resistance" will depend exclusively on Israel respecting the agreed terms.

The plan promoted by Donald Trump

On Thursday, Donald Trump announced that an agreement had been reached for the "total disarmament" of Hamas and other armed groups operating in Gaza, calling it one of the most important diplomatic advances for the stability of the Middle East.

As the U.S. president explained on Truth Social, the process will unfold in carefully planned stages.

Once disarmament is completed, the Israel Defense Forces will withdraw from Gaza, while an International Stabilization Force will work alongside a new Palestinian police force to ensure the security of the territory.

Trump also specified that the storage of the surrendered weapons will be under the supervision of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, with no Israeli participation.

A new government for Gaza

The U.S. president stated that the ultimate goal of the agreement is for Gaza to be under the administration of a new Palestinian government, capable of ensuring the stability of the enclave without the presence of terrorist organizations.

He also thanked the mediation of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, as well as the work of his diplomatic team to reach an understanding between the parties.

Negotiations continue in Egypt

According to Egyptian security sources cited by EFE, representatives of Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States will hold meetings in Cairo in the coming hours to finalize the details of the agreement and initiate the second phase of the ceasefire.

The same sources indicated that Hamas has fully accepted the draft of the pact, although it requested international guarantees to ensure Israel's compliance with the military withdrawal timeline.

If the negotiations conclude successfully, the agreement would open a new phase for Gaza, with the progressive disarmament of terrorist organizations and the establishment of a new government structure under international supervision.
