A police operation carried out in the province of Chaco ended with the discovery of a woman who had been wanted by the Justice for over a decade.
The discovery occurred during a preventive patrol in the town of Presidencia de la Plaza, when officers identified a person who had two active missing person inquiries issued by judicial bodies from the province of Buenos Aires.
The woman, 35 years old, was located near a gas station on National Route 16, at kilometer 115. According to police sources, she was accompanied by another woman at the time she was intercepted by the agents.
The Chaco police found a person who had been wanted for 11 years
The operation took place on Wednesday afternoon, when local police were carrying out routine prevention and control tasks.
After identifying both women and checking their details in the police system, the officers detected that one of them had two active missing person inquiries.
The situation immediately activated the protocols established for such cases and prompted the transfer of both individuals to the police station to complete the necessary procedures.
According to information released by local media, the woman had two active judicial requests.
The first had been issued on August 20, 2015, by the Functional Instruction Unit No. 11 of Lomas de Zamora. The second corresponded to a more recent order issued by the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor's Office No. 49, dated January 31, 2026.
Such measures are usually issued when authorities are unaware of a person's whereabouts and seek to determine whether the absence is due to a voluntary decision or if there is any situation that may compromise their physical integrity.
What did the woman declare?
Once transferred to the police station, the woman explained that she was in Chaco by her own choice and assured that her stay in the province was completely voluntary.
According to the authorities, she did not report being a victim of threats, coercion, or any other situation that would justify an urgent intervention for security reasons.
The statements were incorporated into the proceedings to be sent to the judicial bodies that had requested her location.
After the discovery, the on-duty Prosecutor's Office in Resistencia, led by prosecutor Rosana Soto, intervened and ordered the elevation of all actions taken by the Chaco police.
Additionally, the judicial bodies from the province of Buenos Aires that had issued the missing person inquiries were formally notified to evaluate the situation and define the next steps to take.
