The 2026 Santa Fe South American Games have begun distributing medals among the participating delegations, and Brazil quickly took control of the overall standings. After the first two days of competition, the Brazilian team accumulated 52 medals, while Argentina ranked second with 32 and Colombia came in third with 28.

Brazil achieved 21 gold medals, 19 silver, and 12 bronze, numbers that allowed them to establish a considerable lead at the top. Argentina, for its part, reached 12 golds, five silvers, and 15 bronzes, while Colombia totaled 10 golds, nine silvers, and nine bronzes.

Argentina remains in second place

The national delegation had a strong start and managed to reach the podium in various disciplines. With 32 medals in total, Argentina holds a four-medal advantage over Colombia in total count, although the difference between the two is also marked by Argentina's 12 golds compared to Colombia's 10.

Among the national achievements is Pascual Di Tella, who won gold in the men's individual sabre fencing. In the same discipline, Juan Bacha secured a bronze medal to increase Argentina's haul.

Swimming also contributed important results for the local team. Macarena Ceballos won the 100 meters breaststroke, while Cecilia Dieleke took gold in the 50 meters backstroke, in a tie with Brazil.

Santiago Grassi, for his part, won a silver medal in the 50 meters butterfly, while Lucas Alba obtained bronze in the 800 meters freestyle. In open water, Romina Imwinkelried finished third in the 10-kilometer event.

The other gold medals for Argentina

Cycling also brought a gold medal thanks to Fernando Contreras, winner of the men's mountain bike cross-country event. Artistic gymnastics added another Argentine gold in women's floor.

The national delegation also celebrated in esports. Daniela Arias won the gold medal in women's EA Sports FC, adding another discipline to the variety of podiums achieved during the first days.

How the overall medal table stands

Brazil occupies the first position with 52 medals (21 gold, 19 silver, and 12 bronze). Argentina appears second with 32 (12-5-15) and Colombia completes the top three with 28 (10-9-9).

Chile is further back with 14 medals (2-4-8), followed by Venezuela with 11 (3-4-4) and Peru with eight (1-5-2). Ecuador has five medals (1-2-2) and Paraguay also accumulates five, although still without golds (0-1-4).

Uruguay secured one medal, which is a gold, while Panama also has one medal, in their case a bronze. The standings will continue to change as the events progress and new competitions are defined in Santa Fe 2026.
