One week before its debut in the 2026 World Cup, Algeria opted for an unconventional preparation. The African national team will play a friendly match against Bolivia in Kansas, United States, this Wednesday; however, unlike the others, it will be completely closed to the public, with no access for fans, journalists, or television broadcasts.

The match will serve as the final rehearsal before the World Cup debut in Group J against the Argentine National Team, scheduled for June 16. One of the reasons behind this decision is said to be to prevent the leaking of tactical details or the starting lineup that the coaching staff of Vladimir Petkovic, who recently renewed his contract until mid-2028, plans to use against Lionel Scaloni's team.

According to reports from media following the Algerian national team's situation, the authorities communicated the measure citing security and the organization of final preparations for the World Cup. However, the lack of images and media coverage has fueled speculation about the intention to preserve the internal workings of the squad.

The uniqueness of the match also lies in the fact that it will be played outside of an official FIFA window in June (from the 1st to the 9th), which is why there hasn't been much institutional promotion regarding its organization or logistical aspects of the event.

The friendly against the Bolivian team will take place on June 10 at the Rock Chalk Park sports complex, belonging to the University of Kansas, the same place where the Africans are holding their training camp during their stay in the United States.

After arriving in the United States in recent hours, Algeria will have this week for final training and will prepare for its last friendly before the World Cup. Once in the tournament, "The Desert Foxes" will open their World Cup participation on June 16 against Argentina at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, then they will face Jordan on the 23rd at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara and will close the group stage against Austria on the 27th again in Kansas City.
