Valentín Barco took a new leap in his European career. Chelsea officially announced the signing of the Argentine footballer, who arrives from Racing de Estrasburgo and signed a contract with the London club until June 2033.

The English institution confirmed the operation through a statement and a presentation video published on its social media. "Chelsea FC is pleased to confirm the signing of Argentine international Valentín Barco from RC Strasbourg", the club stated. In the audiovisual production, the streets of London serve as a backdrop while a radio broadcast announces the arrival of the footballer and a newspaper displays the headline "Barco is blue".

Although the transfer amount was not officially disclosed, various reports indicate that the operation would be around 40 million euros. The transfer did not present major difficulties, as both Chelsea and Racing de Estrasburgo belong to the BlueCo investment group, which owns both institutions.

This will not be his first experience in the Premier League. At the end of 2023, "Colo" was acquired by Brighton, a team with which he had limited continuity. As a result, he was first loaned to Sevilla and then to Strasbourg, which later would end up acquiring him permanently.

That change of scenery would be crucial for him, as it was there that he would find his best footballing version. Although he made a name for himself as a left-back, he spent most of his minutes in the French team playing as a midfielder, a position in which he enhanced his ball recovery and distribution skills, and which ultimately consolidated him as one of the most important pieces of the team.

It should be noted that the former Boca will not immediately join the team's preseason, which is currently taking place in Sydney, but will join in the coming days after enjoying an additional rest period following his participation in the 2026 World Cup with the Argentine National Team.

With his arrival, Barco becomes one of Chelsea's reinforcements for the new sports project and will have the opportunity to share the squad with his compatriot Enzo Fernández, as long as the midfielder remains at the club during this transfer window. For the Argentine, it will be a new opportunity to establish himself in the elite of European football after a season that marked his definitive rise in France.

Barco's numbers at Racing de Estrasburgo

In his year and a half with the French club's jersey, the native of 25 de mayo played 4,558 minutes, distributed over 58 matches, in which he scored 3 goals, provided 11 assists, and received 10 yellow cards and 1 red card.
