Matías Oberlín criticized the Law of Inviolability of Private Property, a key initiative to attract million-dollar investments

In the midst of the debate over the project of the Law of Inviolability of Private Property promoted by the Government of Javier Milei, and the strong anti-Argentina campaign, the researcher from CONICET Matías Oberlín Molina criticized the initiative with lies and misinformation to try to generate alarm in the population.

The official proposal aims to modify regulations related to rural lands, expropriations, and land use, in order to eliminate bureaucratic obstacles and provide absolute legal security to property owners.

This is a key tool to attract foreign investments and position Argentina as a reliable destination in the world, in line with international standards.

In this context, the limits established by the previous Land Law represented an ideological brake that deterred major global investors. The new initiative seeks to reverse that scenario through clear and predictable rules, following the example of numerous developed economies.

The Lies of Oberlín

However, Oberlín harshly questioned the initiative and claimed that the name of the law is a euphemism or “fancy name”, in an unfounded criticism against the explicit objectives of the project.

In that vein, he stated: “It is a law tailored for these large capitals that come to turn us into a colonial enclave,” instilling the idea of a supposed “delivery plan” that, according to him, does not correspond with the reality of the regulation.

The researcher also attempted to generate alarm, stating that "if the foreignization of lands in border areas is allowed, it opens the door for capital whose origin may be unknown," and added that "it opens a very dangerous door for the future and erodes national sovereignty.”

The Reality of Milei's Project

However, the reality is that the law maintains strict controls and does not eliminate the State's capabilities to supervise, investigate, and act against possible irregularities or crimes.

Moreover, foreign investors do not “take” the land, but are given the opportunity to invest thousands or millions of dollars for the development of infrastructure, incorporation of technology, and job creation.

Furthermore, the elimination of bureaucracy and ideological impediments will allow for the consolidation of a long-term flow of investments, strengthening the country's economic growth.

The project also establishes that strict prohibitions on land purchases by foreign states are maintained and preserves security controls in border areas, ensuring that the strategic control of the territory remains under national protection.

The clash again raises the debate about the reprehensible role of certain academic sectors regarding the government's projects, in a context where the country faces a strong hate campaign driven from abroad, and with fake news aimed at attacking Milei's Government.
