Despite his modest 15th place in the Hungarian Grand Prix, Franco Colapinto ended the weekend with a reason to celebrate. The Argentine driver achieved 28 consecutive races finished since his debut with Alpine and became the eleventh driver with the longest streak in the history of Formula 1.
According to statistics from the specialized site Big Data F1, the streak began at the 2025 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, when the driver from Pilar debuted with the French team, and remains active after the race held at the Hungaroring. The record only considers the races in which the driver started, so it does not include the 2025 British Grand Prix, where he could not take to the track due to a mechanical issue, nor does it account for Sprint races.
With that criterion, Colapinto has 28 starts and 28 finishes in Sunday races, a mark he shares with Esteban Ocon and that leaves him just one race away from matching the records of Fernando Alonso and Charles Leclerc, both with 29.
The all-time ranking is led by Lewis Hamilton, with 62 consecutive races finished, followed by Oscar Piastri (44), Max Verstappen (43), George Russell (40), Kimi Räikkönen (38), Daniel Ricciardo (34), Nick Heidfeld (33), Carlos Sainz (31), in addition to Alonso and Leclerc.
The consistency of the Argentine is also reflected in another aspect. With 621 laps completed in races this year, he ranks third among drivers with the most mileage in competition during the season, only behind Andrea Kimi Antonelli (624) and Hamilton (629).
This consistency, combined with the points he has been accumulating, is also reflected in the Power Rankings compiled by Formula 1. With an average of 7.0, Colapinto is currently ranked tenth in the overall standings of the season, sharing the position with Isack Hadjar (Red Bull).
When will Colapinto race again
After the race on Hungarian soil, Formula 1 will take a break for the summer holidays. In this sense, the category will return in one month with the Dutch Grand Prix. Action at the Zandvoort circuit will kick off on Friday, August 21 with a single practice session and the Sprint qualifying, and will conclude on Sunday, August 23 with the main race.
In his only appearance on Dutch territory driving in the top category, Colapinto narrowly missed the points zone with an 11th place finish.
