Franco Colapinto is going through one of the best moments since his arrival in Formula 1, but his continuity at Alpine beyond the current season is still not defined. Ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, the Argentine driver acknowledged that he hopes to resolve his future before the end of the year, although he clarified that discussions with the team have not yet begun.
"I hope I don't have to wait until the end of the season", Colapinto expressed when asked about the possibility of renewing his contract with the French team.
Despite the uncertainty, the Buenos Aires native made it clear that his main objective remains performance on the track. "I haven't talked at all about next year. I'm focused solely on going race by race and trying to score points", he stated.

The Argentine also gave a positive assessment of his season, although he acknowledged that Alpine still has difficulties competing with the more competitive teams. "I'm happy to be here and to be performing well. It's been a good year so far. Although, to be honest, we're having difficulties with the car. It hasn't been easy. Even so, I'm still giving my best", he maintained.
He then used the British Grand Prix as an example to explain the growth he feels as a driver. "Even in complicated situations, like the one in Silverstone last week, when we had that problem with the floor during qualifying. I finished practically last in qualifying, but I managed to score points and overtake ten cars in the race. Those are the moments when I feel that this year I'm much stronger and more confident. The team has supported me a lot", he highlighted.
Later, Colapinto referred to the current state of the French team in the championship and admitted that they have lost ground to their direct rivals. "I think Racing Bulls have already surpassed us, so we're doing a lot of work to improve the car, make it faster, and solve our problems. That is the main objective", he explained.

In that sense, he emphasized what the team's immediate goal is. "We need to try to be faster than Audi and Racing Bulls again, maintain our position in the championship, and get closer to the leading teams. That's what we're really focused on".
Thanks to his recent good performances, the 23-year-old driver has established himself as a regular candidate to score points and continues to show arguments to earn a long-term place in the top category. However, for now, his continuity at Alpine remains undefined and negotiations will have to wait.
His arrival in Albiceleste at Spa
The Argentina National Team's qualification for the 2026 World Cup final was also felt ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix. Franco Colapinto arrived at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit wearing the Albiceleste jersey, with mate in hand and a smile that reflected his joy for the victory against England.
The Formula 1 shared images of his entrance to the paddock with a nod to the result, while Alpine published a video in which the driver kisses the jersey's badge and claimed he was "the happiest guy in the paddock".
