The technology company Mercado Libre announced that it will invest $3.4 billion in Argentina during 2026 with the objective of expanding its logistics infrastructure, strengthening its e-commerce platform and deepening the development of its fintech ecosystem. The plan also envisages the creation of 1,900 new jobs in the country

.

The announcement was made during Argentina Week 2026, an event that takes place in the United States to promote investments. There, the president of Mercado Libre in Argentina, Juan Martín de la Serna, assured that the company maintains the conviction to continue betting on the country and highlighted the importance of continuing to expand the logistics network and digital financial services.

As explained by the company, the disbursement will include capital assets and operating expenses primarily intended for new storage centers, technological improvements to the e-commerce platform and the growth of Mercado Pago, the group's financial arm

Currently, Mercado Libre has more than 16,700 employees in Argentina and maintains a strong presence within the entrepreneurial ecosystem. According to company data, more than 2.7 million Argentine SMEs and entrepreneurs sell products through

its marketplace.

Global financial results show strong growth.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, Mercado Libre recorded revenues of $8.8 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 45%, while revenues increased 39% throughout the year.

The e-commerce business also maintained a high dynamism. Gross merchandise volume (GMV) reached US$19.9 billion in the last quarter, with a year-on-year growth of 37%, and the platform surpassed 80 million quarterly unique buyers across the region for the first time

During the last quarter of 2025, GMV grew 42% year-on-year in constant currency, while the number of products sold increased 36%.

It exported services for $878 million and paid $1,999 million in taxes, the highest level recorded by the company

in the country.

At the same time, Mercado Pago continues to expand its scale in Latin America, with almost 78 million monthly active users and assets under management close to US $19 billion, consolidating itself as one of the central pillars of the group's digital ecosystem.
