The Milei government signed two key agreements in logistics and military technology with the US.

The Government of Javier Milei signed two agreements aimed at expanding logistical and technological cooperation with the United States, in a new step towards strengthening the bilateral and strategic relationship in Defense.

The announcement was made by the U.S. ambassador to Argentina, Peter Lamelas, who highlighted the scope of the initiatives: "We signed two key defense agreements that allow Argentina to access fuel at military prices worldwide, and become the first country in the hemisphere to join the U.S. Army's drone and counter-drone platform. This is how we build a stronger Argentina and hemisphere".

The agreements were formalized through Letters of Intent signed by Lamelas and the Argentine Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Alberto Presti.

Both documents represent a concrete advance in bilateral integration, especially in strategic areas for the current international scenario.

The signed agreements

One of the agreements aims to strengthen logistical support between both nations, particularly in the reciprocal supply of fuel under the Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA), in effect since 2009.

This initiative will allow Argentina to access fuel under preferential conditions globally, optimizing the sustainment of its forces in combined exercises, operational deployments, and joint missions.

The mechanism also includes assistance in unforeseen situations or contingencies, which reinforces the capacity for rapid and coordinated response between both countries. In this way, it improves the interoperability of the Armed Forces and increases operational efficiency in various scenarios, both in training tasks and in international operations.

The second agreement focuses on the incorporation of Argentina into an international digital market for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and countermeasures against these devices (C-UAS).

This platform will allow for agile access to advanced military technology that has been previously evaluated and certified, positioning the country at the forefront of one of the most dynamic sectors of modern defense.

The integration into this system is particularly relevant in a global context where drones and counter-drone systems have become decisive tools in multiple conflict scenarios.

These technologies play a central role in surveillance, reconnaissance, protection of critical infrastructure, and conducting operations.

Such initiatives are part of a broader strategy by Milei's Government aimed at strengthening the capabilities of the Armed Forces, promoting technological modernization, and expanding mechanisms for international cooperation.
