The Government of Javier Milei has advanced in a scheme for joint work between the State Intelligence Secretariat (SIDE) and the Foreign Ministry.
The initiative aims to strengthen the State's capacity to protect Argentine citizens both within the country and abroad, through mechanisms for prevention, rapid response, and strategic coordination.
The news was communicated following a meeting between the Secretary of State Intelligence, Cristian Auguadra, and the Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno, who agreed to deepen cooperation between both agencies in key areas such as early alerts, consular assistance, and management of international crises.
In this context, the Undersecretary of State Intelligence, José Lago Rodríguez, publicly highlighted the strategic value of this coordination.

Through his account on X, he stated: “Intelligence and diplomacy, working in a coordinated manner, strengthen the State's capacity to protect its citizens, defend national interests, and seize strategic opportunities.”
The official also emphasized that “intelligence diplomacy supports and facilitates the tasks carried out by traditional diplomacy. It allows for enhanced coordination and opens communication channels when diplomacy encounters limits.”
In an increasingly complex global scenario, he added that the articulation between the SIDE and the Foreign Ministry allows for “consolidating the strategic response capacity against risks, threats, and opportunities.”

Joint Work Between the SIDE and the Foreign Ministry
The joint work scheme includes various action axes. In terms of emergencies, a faster response to international crises that may affect Argentine citizens is anticipated, along with more agile communication with families in critical situations.
On the preventive front, the goal is to improve the early detection of threats before they escalate, by generating timely alerts about risks in foreign destinations. This approach seeks to anticipate dangerous situations and provide more precise information tools for those traveling or residing outside the country.
Another pillar is international protection, which includes strengthening consular assistance through the use of intelligence analysis. This will enhance response capacity in conflict zones and reinforce the defense of the rights and interests of Argentines abroad.
Additionally, the initiative includes a comprehensive approach to national security. Among the objectives are the prevention of terrorism, drug trafficking, and organized crime, as well as protection against cyber threats and coordination in the face of global crises.
This integration of intelligence and diplomacy represents a step forward in the modernization of State intelligence and in building a more active and preventive foreign policy.
In an international context marked by uncertainty and conflicts, coordination between both agencies is a central tool for anticipating risks and ensuring an effective response to complex scenarios.
