The future of José Mourinho continues to be a topic of discussion in European football. As rumors linking him to a possible return to Real Madrid grow, Benfica has reportedly decided to act quickly and has already presented him with a renewal offer to try to secure his continuity.
According to the Portuguese press, the president of the Lisbon club, Rui Costa, was the one who conveyed the proposal to the coach, who will make a decision in the coming days. Mourinho, who took over in September of last year with a contract until next season, has a clause in his contract that allows both the club and the coach to evaluate his continuity ten days after the league ends.
A few days ago, true to his style, the coach avoided premature definitions and made it clear when he would give a response. "I have had no contact with Real Madrid, I have not had it, and until the last league match against Estoril, I will not have it either. After that, there is a one-week period in which I will have the freedom to talk to whoever I deem appropriate," he recently stated.
