The decision by River to separate several members of the professional squad continues to spark reactions in Argentine football. On this occasion, the president of Estudiantes de La Plata, Juan Sebastián Verón, expressed his disagreement with the stance taken by the Núñez club and questioned the way such situations are managed.

During an interview, the official explained that he does not agree with the practice of separating players while they seek a transfer or exit from the club.

Verón stated that, at Estudiantes, when similar cases arise, the priority is for players to continue working alongside the rest of the squad, even when they know they are not part of the sporting plans.

“As a player, I wouldn’t like that situation. We as officials have had similar cases and we tried to keep them within the squad, even though they know we are not going to consider them or that we are looking for an exit for them,” he said.

He explained that this methodology helps maintain an atmosphere of respect and professionalism, in addition to providing players with the necessary conditions while they define their next destination.

The president of the Platense team also emphasized the impact that these decisions have on players developed in the youth divisions.

From his perspective, separating players with a history within the institution is a measure that is difficult to understand and represents a management style he does not agree with.

“As a former player, I don’t see it well because there are players who came from the club. Separating them like that, in that way, seems strange to me. These are very particular decisions,” he expressed.

Verón's statements add to the repercussions generated by the restructuring initiated by River, where several players were separated from the professional squad as part of the renewal process led by the management and the coaching staff of Eduardo Coudet.
