The salaries of teachers in the province of Buenos Aires have suffered a significant loss of purchasing power during the administration of the ultra-Kirchner governor Axel Kicillof.

According to official data, the real salary of Buenos Aires teachers fell by 22.7% during the Kirchnerist governor's term and is currently at one of its lowest levels in recent decades.

The deterioration arises from the analysis of the take-home pay of a primary school teacher with a simple workday and 10 years of seniority. This is the amount that the worker effectively receives after applying social security deductions and other concepts.

This information is part of the Indicative Report on Teacher Salaries prepared by the National Education Secretariat, which allows for observing the evolution of the purchasing power of teachers' salaries in different jurisdictions across the country.

According to official records, in March 2026, a primary school teacher in the province of Buenos Aires with 10 years of seniority received a take-home pay of $891,493.

This amount represents a real decline of 22.7% compared to the salaries recorded during the fourth quarter of 2019, towards the end of María Eugenia Vidal's administration. The comparison takes into account the effect of inflation and allows for measuring how much the salary has lost in terms of purchasing power.

The data thus exposes a marked regression in the salary situation of Buenos Aires teachers during Kicillof's administration.

Starting in 2023, within the framework of the severe economic crisis generated by the Kirchnerist government at the national level, a process of significant loss of purchasing power began, which ultimately brought the Buenos Aires teachers' salary to levels lower than those recorded at the beginning of the comparison.

With high inflation, combined with the lack of economic support from the Buenos Aires government, the real salary of teachers fell sharply. Since the fourth quarter of 2023, teachers' incomes have suffered a decline that reached 22.7% in real terms.

To recall, provincial governments are the direct responsible for the payment of salaries to public education teachers in Argentina.

Thus, the current salary of a primary school teacher with a simple workday and a decade of seniority is not only below the level it had at the end of 2019 but, according to official records, is among the lowest values since 2004.

The salary deterioration represents one of the main data points left by the evolution of teachers' incomes in the province of Buenos Aires under Kicillof's administration.

In this way, the records from the National Education Secretariat show that teachers in the province are experiencing, in terms of real salary, one of the worst levels in the last two decades, within the framework of the Kirchnerist management at the head of the province of Buenos Aires.
