References from Kirchnerism, Trotskyism, and militant journalism came out this Thursday to operate against President Javier Milei following the national broadcast in which he announced new measures to halt British oil exploitation in the Falkland Islands and strengthen Argentina's presence in the South Atlantic.

The criticisms arose despite Milei dedicating part of his speech to expressly request that the Falklands cause be prioritized over party differences. “We can discuss anything else, we can discuss my methods, we can disagree on fiscal or exchange policy, but this issue demands a pause,” the president stated.

One of the first reactions came from the Trotskyist Myriam Bregman, who launched an accusation against the President without addressing the content of the announced measures. “They hacked his neurons or the United States is using him as an envoy to provoke Britain in its current dispute among pirates. They wrote it for him in the Pentagon,” she posted.

In similar terms, PTS disciple Luca Bonfante expressed that “Milei's speech was written from beginning to end by the Pentagon” and claimed that Washington would seek to establish “a Yankee base” in Tierra del Fuego.

This assertion contrasts with what Milei announced, who reported that the Government will expand the resources of the Argentine Ministry of Defense to advance with a Naval Base Integrated in Tierra del Fuego and strengthen national telecommunications capabilities.

Kirchnerism and its militant journalism questioned the announcements

From the administration of Axel Kicillof, his Minister of Government Carlos Bianco pointed to the national administration for its response to the violation of national sovereignty and accused the President of acting “opportunistically” in the face of the advancement of the oil project Sea Lion.

“It took the Thatcher fan 267 days to comply with the law. Now he does it opportunistically,” affirmed the official from the Buenos Aires Kirchnerism, who maintained that the legal tools to act against the companies linked to the project were already available.

Journalist Diego Iglesias also joined in, accusing Milei of “using the Falklands cause for political gain” and questioning why the Government had not previously applied existing regulations against the companies involved in Sea Lion with greater intensity.

The criticisms came after Milei announced measures to expedite sanction procedures, toughen penalties against companies linked to hydrocarbon exploitation without Argentine authorization, and expand certain administrative and criminal scopes.

The President also announced a Law for the Defense of National Sovereignty, the creation of a National Security Council, and increased resources for Defense with the aim of strengthening Argentina's strategic presence in the South Atlantic.

Anticipating the criticisms and operations from the left, the president's speech had been forceful: “The Falklands do not belong to a government or a political party. It is a national cause”. Milei called on the opposition, the business community, and other sectors of society to show a common position to the world in defense of Argentine interests.
