Chancellor Pablo Quirno and Defense Minister Carlos Presti will travel this Friday to Tierra del Fuego to tour the site where the Integrated Naval Base of Ushuaia will be built and advance one of the strategic projects promoted by the Government of Javier Milei to strengthen Argentina's presence in the South Atlantic.

The delegation will depart at 6:30 from the Military Airport of Aeroparque aboard an Embraer RJ from the Air Force. Also participating will be the Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, Admiral Marcelo Dalle Nogare, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Navy, Admiral Juan Carlos Romay.

They will be joined by national deputies Miguel Rodríguez and Santiago Pauli, along with senators Agustín Coto and Belén Monte de Oca, all representatives of La Libertad Avanza from Tierra del Fuego.

Once in Ushuaia, Quirno and Presti will be received by the provincial governor Gustavo Melella, with whom they will hold a meeting at the Governor's office.

Subsequently, the officials will move to the site designated for the future Integrated Naval Base. There, they will receive a presentation on Argentina's strategy in the South Atlantic, the Falkland Islands, and the projection towards Antarctica, as well as a technical report on the status of the project, its main components, and the pending challenges for its execution.

The project aims to turn Ushuaia into a logistical, operational, and scientific hub of relevance for the South Atlantic and Argentine Antarctic activity. The total estimated investment is between USD 400 million and USD 500 million.

During the last week, the Government reallocated approximately USD 142 million for the initiative, an amount equivalent to about 30% of the calculated cost. The rest of the financing will need to be defined during the next stages, and part of the resources could be included in the 2027 Budget.

President Javier Milei instructed the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, to prioritize the development of the Integrated Naval Base, along with other projects considered strategic, including the Joint Antarctic Base Petrel, at a time when the Government is deepening its strategy regarding the Falklands.
