After the tough defeat by 3-0 against Deportivo Riestra, Boca accelerated the search for a center forward to strengthen its attack. In this context, the club from La Ribera has already taken a concrete step to incorporate David Romero, one of the standout players from Tigre and one of the best-performing forwards in Argentine football.

With Rodolfo Arruabarrena's request on the table, the management led by Juan Román Riquelme presented a formal offer to acquire the 23-year-old forward from Corrientes. The proposal includes the purchase of 70% of his rights, while Matador would retain the remaining 30%.

In addition to the financial aspect, Boca included in the negotiation the loans of Kevin Zenón and Camilo Rey Domenech, two players who could strengthen the Buenos Aires team and facilitate an agreement between the clubs. Although the amount of the operation has not yet been disclosed, discussions are progressing and optimism is growing on both sides.

It is worth noting that Romero is one of the most sought-after names in the market and Boca is not the only interested party. Parma and Sevilla have also made offers for the forward, although the player would prioritize continuing his career in Argentine football and wearing the xeneize jersey.

Another factor that could tip the balance is the good relationship between the management of both clubs, with a fluid connection between Riquelme and Suárez that favors dialogue to try to reach a beneficial agreement for all parties.

Meanwhile, at Tigre, they remain cautious and assert that they will not make a hasty decision. The club's president, Martín Suárez, confirmed that there are several proposals and emphasized that they will analyze each one before defining the future of the scorer. "We have been contacted from Brazil and Mexico. We are analyzing and we will not rush, we will sit down to talk", he stated.

In parallel to the negotiations, Romero has also been in the spotlight for not having participated in Tigre's last two matches, officially for "personal reasons", amid efforts to resolve his future.

David Romero's numbers at Tigre

Since his arrival at the Victoria team in early 2025, the player from Corrientes has played 2,401 minutes, spread over 40 matches, in which he scored 16 goals, provided 4 assists, and received 2 yellow cards. It is noteworthy that most of his contributions come from his performance so far in 2026, with 11 goals, 2 assists, and 1 yellow card in 19 matches.
