In Neuquén, a case emerged that generated strong shock: a baby was born with cocaine in his blood and his parents were accused of abandoning him in the hospital shortly after birth. The little one remains hospitalized at the Castro Rendón Hospital, where doctors immediately activated protection protocols.

According to family members, the baby's grandmother and paternal aunt expressed their willingness to take care of him and are already awaiting a resolution from the Justice system to proceed with custody. In the meantime, the baby is stable but under strict medical supervision.

A close friend of the family revealed that the couple has addiction problems and that is why they decided to help the grandmother and the aunt. “They found cocaine in the baby's blood,” she revealed with concern. The infant shows symptoms consistent with neonatal withdrawal, and professionals are evaluating possible complications due to prenatal exposure to substances.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that the child is in good general condition and receives continuous care. Child welfare agencies and judicial authorities are already involved in the case to define his future.

The family seeks to take charge

The aunt, contacted by the hospital, accepted along with her mother the responsibility of raising the baby. Following this decision, a close friend initiated a solidarity campaign to gather essential items. “The hospital contacted the aunt to see if she would take charge, and they decided that she would,” she explained.

The collection includes newborn and small size diapers, formula milk, warm clothing, bodysuits, rompers, socks, hats, a crib, and a stroller. The idea is to equip the grandmother and the aunt to welcome the baby when he is discharged.

Additionally, it was reported that the baby's father showed up at the hospital and threatened the doctors, prompting the health center authorities to impose a restraining order against him. This incident further complicated the family situation.

Medical studies continue to determine if exposure to substances during pregnancy may cause other repercussions in the child's development. For now, there is no expected discharge date, as professionals prefer to be cautious.

Neuquén solidarity

The family friend appealed to the solidarity of the people of Neuquén through social media to collaborate with donations. “I am only close to the baby through a family member. He was abandoned shortly after birth,” she stated in an interview with local media.

This case again highlights the addiction problems that affect many families and how they directly impact the most vulnerable. The grandmother and the aunt hope that the Justice system will grant them custody soon so they can provide the baby with the care and love he needs from his first day of life.

While they await the judicial resolution, the collection remains open and represents a gesture of support from the community in such a painful situation.
